The Federal Government is the world's largest buyer of goods and services purchasing food, clothing, hardware, electronics, and much more.

Since the early 1990's, the Federal Government has been streamlining the federal procurement system and re-engineering its business practices to provide products better, faster, and cheaper. With the passage of the "Federal Acquisition and Streamlining Act" (FASA) in 1994 and the "Federal Activities Inventory Reform Act of 1998" (FAIR), the Federal Government has been making sweeping changes in the way it conducts business. From a time consuming paper driven process to a streamlined internet based procurement system, the Federal Government is changing the way it buys goods and services by using new and innovative contracting methods such as Automated Best Value Methods, Prime Vendors, and Reverse Auctions.

The National Association of Manufacturers and Representatives (NAMR) seeks to inform and educate its members on key issues affecting Federal procurement today such as, contract bundling, outsourcing and privatizing, and the Federal Prison Industries.
